I am a reader. I am a lover of art. I am an appreciator of new sights.
Growing up these passions were nurtured through museum visits, albeit unwilling at first, and good books on long car trips to new places. As I began taking photographs, I noticed how these things—literature and art and travel—impacted what I see through the lens.
When I lift the camera to compose a shot, I am articulating an amalgamation of ideas that impacted my life through favorite authors and artists—Annie Dillard, deKooning, Kiefer, McCarthy, Kierkegaard, Nouwen, Goldsworthy, Diebenkorn, Hemingway, Shakespeare, Rothko, Sargent, Appel, Twombly, Pasternak, Norris. These are a few who poignantly expressed beauty in the ordinary, a sense of mystery and wonder, the fleetingness yet grace in life. I am also expressing something I’ve learned from traveling—people, and places, are distinctive and fascinating, each with their own history and interests and perspective on life.
Thus, my goal, as your photographer is to capture the unique threads that compose your life and to tell your story, whether that is on your wedding day or on any other moment in life.
And, while I live in North Mississippi, I am willing to travel. I mean, who doesn’t like to travel?
